A survey of 200 Ayurvedic and herbal wellness consumers revealed that herbal teas remain the most preferred product category, social media is the dominant discovery channel, and customer behaviour is a stronger predictor of future purchases than age, gender, or income.
Why We Conducted This Study ?
The Ayurvedic wellness market is growing rapidly, but many brands still rely on assumptions about who their customers are.
To better understand consumer behaviour, we surveyed 200 wellness consumers and analysed their purchase patterns, product preferences, marketing responses, and attitudes toward personalised recommendations.
Key Findings
Herbal Tea is the Most Preferred Wellness Product
43% of respondents identified herbal teas and kadha as their preferred Ayurvedic wellness products.
This suggests that consumers increasingly seek simple, daily wellness rituals rather than complex treatment regimens.
2. Social Media Drives Discovery
53.5% of respondents discovered Ayurvedic products through Instagram and Facebook advertisements.
This makes social media the most influential customer acquisition channel in the study.
3. Natural Ingredients Matter More Than Marketing Claims
44.5% of respondents said natural and Ayurvedic ingredients were the primary reason for purchasing wellness products.
Consumers are increasingly evaluating ingredient transparency before making buying decisions.
4. Customer Behaviour Matters More Than Demographics
One of the most surprising findings was that age, gender, and income showed no statistically significant relationship with customer segments.
In other words, two people with completely different demographic backgrounds may behave similarly as customers.
5. Personalised Recommendations Increase Purchase Intent
Personalised offers generated strong repurchase intent across multiple customer segments.
The highest response came from occasional buyers, suggesting that relevance often matters more than discounts.
What This Means for Ayurvedic Brands
The findings suggest that wellness brands should focus less on demographic targeting and more on behavioural personalisation.
Brands that understand customer habits, purchase frequency, and engagement patterns are likely to outperform brands relying only on age-based or gender-based marketing.
